DWC finished the season with a first-round sectional loss against Batavia.
Batavia’s Offense and Defense dominated the game, with me scoring 35 points in the first half. DWC only managed 74 yards rushing and 86 passing with three interceptions.
Defensively DWC was led by Elijah Bender with nine tackles and 1 QB sack, Caleb Knapp with nine tackles, and Zaiden Blackmon with eight tackles. Gaylord had three tackles and one fumble recovery.
Both coach Pieri and myself are very proud of our boys. The season may not have turned out as anticipated; however, the players should be proud of what they accomplished. It is a fantastic group of young men; we both have enjoyed coaching every single one. Sometimes charter is revealed by how you lose, and we feel our team has much of it. They never gave up and stayed positive throughout the season. We will miss the seniors who are leaving and look forward to next year’s team.
