Earl R. Wiedrich | Obituaries


Earl R. Wiedrich, 93, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and formerly of Batavia, N.Y., and Forest, Va., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Batavia, N.Y., to parents Raymond and Alice (nee Goodman) Wiedrich.

Earl was a proud Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. Shortly after returning home, he married Shirley Boyle on Nov. 8, 1952. He worked most of his career at Batavia Machine and Tool, Co., retiring in 1987 as a Foreman. During retirement, Earl and Shirley resettled in Virginia, and recently had moved to Ohio. Earl enjoyed both playing and watching basketball, most recently tossing the ball around with the neighborhood kids and watching his great-grandson on the courts of the school team.

Earl is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Shirley Wiedrich; loving children, Joyce Borlaug (Jim), and Jim Wiedrich (Amy); cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Borlaug (Chrissy), Jeffrey Borlaug, Courtney Marsh (Aaron), Patrick Wiedrich, Karley Cochran, and MacKenzie Cochran (Jauclyn); eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Doris Reid, Lavon Wiedrich (Brenda), and Arloa Donnely (Bob). He is preceded in death by siblings Iona Shepherd and Farwell Wiedrich, and his parents.
