In the nine days of early voting in this year’s general election, the turnout in the GLOW region ranged from a little more than 1,300 to nearly 2,200.
Genesee County saw 2,185 people walk through the door at the Genesee ARC Community Center on Woodrow Road in Batavia.
That total included 261 on Oct. 29, 172 on Oct. 30 and 269 on Oct. 31. The daily totals from Nov. 1 through Sunday were not available Monday.
“We were running around 250 a day. Everything went extremely smooth. There’s no issues that I was aware of,” said Genesee County Republican Election Commissioner Richard Siebert.
The county announced a change to one of the voting sites for today’s election. Due to unforeseen circumstances and scheduling conflicts with Genesee Community College. The polling place for town of Batavia District 12-03 was moved Richard C. Call Arena to the William W. Stuart Forum on the first floor of the Main Building.
“I know people are not going to be happy. They’re going to be very confused and that’s a big polling site out there. It’s going to be inconvenient for sure for people , but it is what it is,” he said. “The college told us they would have someone at the polling site that people are used to using, to direct people … and that they would also provide more handicapped parking places out by the (Main Building).”
More than 2,000 Livingston County residents cast ballots during the early voting period that ended Sunday.
A total of 1,998 people voted early with an additional 37 affidavits filed with the Board of Elections for a total of 2,035 early voters, according to data from the Livingston County Board of Elections.
More than 500 early voters participated in the final weekend of balloting. Early voting began Oct. 29 and drew 237 people to the Board of Elections. Voting continued until Nov. 6.
The highest day of early voting was the last day, with 284 ballots cast. The next highest days were Saturday and Thursday, which both saw 245 voters.
There were 244 voters on Nov. 1 and 206 voters on Oct. 31.
Other days saw 179 voters on Oct. 30, 174 on Nov. 2, and 184 on Nov. 4, according to data from the county Board of Elections.
An average of 225 ballots were cast each day of early voting.
“Early voting has been steady all six days so far,” David M. DiPasquale, the Democratic elections commissioner for Livingston County, said in an email on Nov. 4. “We anticipate a higher turnout this weekend being the last few days to early vote.”
Voting took place at the Livingston County Board of Elections in the Livingston County Government Center, 6 Court St., Geneseo.
“It’s been a steady stream” of voters each day, DiPasquale said.
In Orleans County, the total turnout for the nine days of early voting was 1,333. The day-by-day turnout was: Oct. 29, 163; Oct. 30, 125; Oct. 31, 151; Nov. 1, 149; Wednesday, 170; Thursday, 152; Friday, 147; Saturday, 128, Sunday, 148.
In Wyoming County, 1,341 people came to vote early at the county Board of Elections. The day-by-day totals were: Oct. 29, 157; Oct. 30, 95; Oct. 31, 157; Nov. 1, 164; Wednesday, 168; Thursday, 150; Friday, 164; Saturday, 132; Sunday, 154.
“It was a steady stream and it went by as well as it could. Staffing was fine and voters are good. They had a good attitude.”
