BATAVIA, IL — The remainder of this week’s garbage pickup in Batavia has been altered slightly due to the forecast winter storm, officials announced.
Waste Management will start refuse and recycling collection at 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. Thursday “in the attempt to get the collection done before weather gets too bad.” Friday’s pickup will be postponed to 6 a.m. Saturday.
Due to the approaching winter storm, Waste Management will begin service at 6 a.m. on both days. Residents should have their bins out by 5 a.m. to ensure they get picked up.
In addition to the snow expected to start Thursday afternoon, wind gusts up to 55 mph and dangerously cold temperatures as low as 25 to 30 below zero are likely on Thursday night and Friday, Patch reported.
Blizzard conditions are possible, with an expected accumulation of 2 to 5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. AccuWeather forecasted 4 to 8 inches of snow for Chicago.
