Friday, Dec. 30
Hersey 56, Batavia 52: Hersey (15-3) was led by Katy Eidle (32 points), Annika Manthy (7 pts.) and Kiki Craft (10 rebounds) in a dramatic win over Batavia (10-6). Natalie Alesia hit some free throws to put the Huskies ahead 50-48, before Batavia’s Addie Prewitt scored an and-1 to put Batavia ahead 51-50. Batavia star Brooke Carlson (26 pts.) hit a free throw to make it 52-50. Eidle hit a corner 3-pointer with 1:05 left to put Hersey ahead 53-52. Hersey’s Manthy scored an and-1 for a three-point play to put the Huskies ahead 56-52 with 16.3 seconds left to seal the win. Eidle made the first team all-tournament squad for her great play in the tournament.
Thursday, Dec. 29
Deerfield 56, Hersey 48: Hersey (14-3) was led by Katy Eidle (17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists), Annika Manthy (14 pts., 13 rebounds) and Natalie Alesia (12 pts., 5 rebounds) in a rare back-to-back loss for the Huskies. Hersey made 17-of-56 shots in the loss and turned the ball over 20 times. Kiki Craft pulled down 11 rebounds as well for the Huskies.
Fremd 63, Benet Academy 50: Fremd improved to 15-0 with an impressive semifinal win over Benet Academy, which finished fourth at state last year. Ella Todd, who was later named to the all-tournament team with Maddy Fay, led Fremd with 21 points. Fay scored 14 points for the Vikings, who also got 11 points from Ellie Thompson.
Wednesday, Dec. 28
Naperville North 51, Hersey 49: Hersey (14-2) saw its 14-game win streak snapped by Naperville North (10-5) in a close, tough battle. Hersey was led by Annika Manthy (career-high 19 points, 6 rebounds), Natalie Alesia (15 pts., 6 rebounds, 5 assists), Katy Eidle (10 pts., 3 assists) and Kiki Craft (9 rebounds, 3 steals).
Fremd 46, Batavia 42: Fremd was led by Maddy Fay (19 points) and Kace Urlacher (9 pts.) in the second round game. Batavia was led by Brooke Carlson (17 pts.).
Tuesday, Dec. 27
Hersey 55, Sycamore 46: Hersey (14-1) won its 14th game in a row to win the opening game of the Morton College Tournament. Katy Eidle (20 points, 5 rebounds) and Natalie Alesia (16 pts.) were a potent 1-2 punch for the Huskies, combining for 36 points.
Fremd 71, Oak Park-River Forest 26: Fremd moved to 13-0 with a blowout win over Oak Park-River Forest (0-12) in the first game of the tournament. Fremd was led by Nikki Gonnella (14 points), Isabelle Zavilla (10 pts.), Coco Urlacher (9 pts., 6 rebounds, 5 steals), Ella Todd (8 pts.), Sam Bodensteiner (7 assists) and Kace Urlacher (5 assists, 4 steals).
