As expected, a Batavia man already serving state prison time for sexually assaulting a child was sentenced Wednesday in Genesee County Court to 10 years to life in prison.
Wesley N. Thigpen, 41, pleaded guilty Oct. 24 to predatory sexual assault, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years to life in prison.
Thigpen was given a plea deal, with the promise of a sentence of 10 years to life.
The sentence will be consecutive to the 3 1/2 to four-year term he is currently serving.
Thigpen was in prison for a sentence imposed in 2019 when he was indicted in August and charged with four counts of predatory sexual assault of a child. He was accused of repeatedly raping children younger than 13 years old from June 1 to Aug. 31, 2014 and from May 1 to June 30, 2015.
