BATAVIA — Tim Hortons’ third location in Batavia has been open for almost a month, but is expected to grow.
Tim Hortons executives gathered for a grand opening and ribbon-cutting Friday morning outside the building.
The newest Tim Hortons is inside Quicklee’s convenience store, 204 Oak St.
Wendy Clark-Wolfe, a co-owner of this Tim Hortons franchise location along with Bryan Clark and Dave Lumberg, said it opened Sept. 18.
“At this location, we serve all the normal drinks — Iced Coffee, the Iced Capp, any of the cold drinks you can get at the other locations,” she said. “We also have breakfast sandwiches, bagels, doughnuts … We have some sandwiches here, regular lunch sandwiches.
“Coming up, we’re hoping to have some chili and maybe a soup. We don’t carry all the sandwich varieties, because it’s a quicker stop location,” she said.
Aside from the space inside Quicklee’s at 204 Oak St., Tim Hortons is at 20 Main St. and 8400 Lewiston Rd. in Batavia, and at 1106 Main St., Pembroke.
At the Oak Street Tim Hortons, there are probably 12 people on staff, Clark-Wolfe said.
“We’re always looking to hire because we’re just going to keep growing and getting busier,” she said. “I can’t really give a specific number. The jobs are mostly customer service. You’ll be trained in all the different areas — sandwich making, all the different kinds of drinks, things like that.
“We felt that this location was wonderful because it’s right off the Thruway. You can’t miss it,” she said. “There’s a lot of times people want to stop at this location in particular — the Quicklee’s — because of the convenience store inside, the gas outside. If they want to stop, use the washroom, get something to drink and eat for snacks on the road, this (Tim Hortons) just went hand-in-hand with that. It’s just the convenience for people if they need a quick stop to get everything filled up and then head back on the road. It’s very convenient. There’s lots of parking.”
The Tim Hortons on Oak Street includes a drive-thru window on one side of the building. Customers order and then continue around to the side.
